Movies I Dig

Sometimes I’m just flicking through channels, and then — bam — I hit one of the films listed below. Suddenly, whatever I was doing? Forget it. I have to drop it and see the whole thing through, right there on the spot. I’m no cinephile, but a movie a week keeps me happy. Fifty years in, and science fiction has always been my absolute favourite — there’s just something about the worlds, the ideas, and the possibilities that hooks me every time. But honestly, I’ll take a chance on almost anything, good, bad or ugly.

Right now, as I’m thinking about these films, what strikes me most is how much the music within them shapes the experience turning a simple scene into a world you want to get lost in.

The list below might be a little dated, but it shows the movies I keep returning to — the ones that, for a little while, let me step entirely into another world.
